Geneva Panel: Iran-Switzerland Trade

Organised by Swiss Export in partnership with JCC.
The Greater Caspian region, which includes Central Asia and the South Caucasus, has assumed growing strategic and business importance in recent years. This has been heightened not only by the pandemic but also Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the resulting sanctions regime. This is a region with a population of 640 million, over 10 million square kilometers, rich in oil, gas, and minerals and renewables including solar, wind and hydropower. The Greater Caspian Region is not only a logistics bridge but can contribute to food security, provide human resources and serve as a manufacturing location for Swiss companies. Regional GDP is poised to grow by 5.9% in 2024, according to EBRD. A large part of this economic growth is attributed to the development of the Trans-Caspian International Trade Route (TITR). The Trans-Caspian Route is a multi-modal land and sea transport corridor, helping products move from China to Europe through Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, across the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan, Turkey and the Black Sea to Europe. In addition to its transit role, the route opens doors for Central Asia to reach European markets and visa versa.
Learn more about export and investment opportunities in the Greater Caspian Region from experts of the Joint Chamber of Commerce Switzerland-Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the South Caucasus JCC who will open a window onto the opportunities for Swiss export in these markets and trade links between China and Europe via the TITR.
